"It'll only hurt for a moment, then you'll be dead..."

The woman caught site of the bloodied girl in the dark corner and jumped; a small, mouse-like shriek escaped her lips.
"Holy shit, girl! You scared the crap out of me!" She laughed nervously and smiled at Jessica. Jessica smiled back and watched as her expression went from friendly to cautious. Her eyes closed and her nostrils flared as she inhaled the scent of adrenaline and blood. She could hear the woman's pulse quicken with fear as she turned and started to run for her car.
Instinct kicked in and Jessica bound out of the corner after her. The frightened woman had made it to her car and was fumbling with the keys.
"Where do you think you're going?" Jessica snarled. The smell of adrenaline and fear mixed with the smell of the blood, nearly driving Jessica insane. The car door jerked open and the horrified woman threw herself into the driver's seat. Jessica grabbed the door as she tried to pull it shut. “I just want to talk,” she growled as she reached for her. With her fist wrapped tightly in the woman's blond ponytail, Jessica dragged her out of the car and toward the stairwell that lead up to the next level. Panic kicked in and she struggled, scratching and pulling and fighting.
What are you doing? A small voice whispered in Jessica's head. This woman has never done anything to you! Ignoring the voice, she slammed her screaming victim against the stairwell wall. Stop this! Have you lost your mind? She's not going to hurt you! Jessica let go of her and watched as she tried to scramble up the stairs. A war raged inside her. On one side, the last of her humanity begged and pleaded to let her live. On the other, a voracious hunger churned, painful and insatiable. She advanced; a low guttural sound erupting from someplace deep inside. A high-pitched scream let loose from the thrashing woman beneath her as Jessica's teeth gnashed at her throat, ripping skin and spilling blood down her suit. Dying screams echoed off the concrete walls. Jessica fed.
